The Intensive Program at the American School of Bangkok includes classes concentrated on reading, writing, speaking, and listening and elective classes such as Art, Physical Education, Computer and Music. Extra pronunciation and communication lessons can be arranged should the students wish to have further practice.

In the Listening class, students refine their ability to interpret varieties and levels of spoken English in professional and academic contexts.

The Conversational accuracy and fluency classes help students to better understand the structure or grammar of the English language in order to speak correctly and more fluently in English.

The focus of all class activity is oral proficiency. Much of the time is spent in pair and small group work so that students have many opportunities to use and add to their store of knowledge of English.

Throughout all of the class time and during outside activities, students are encouraged to speak English only. This is because The American School of Bangkok's ESL philosophy is that students learn most rapidly when surrounded by the target language and when they are using the target language as consistently as possible. Also, because students come from different countries and language backgrounds, we do not want to alienate anyone by speaking a language that others cannot understand.
