The
American School of Bangkok offers an American
curriculum with an international perspective.
The school's mission is to continually promote
an awareness of specific national curriculum
requirements in order to equip its international
student body to further their education in
diverse regions of the world. The standard
subject areas - humanities, social studies,
science, design and technology, mathematics,
languages, art and music - are supplemented
by a strong emphasis on Pre K-12 world geography,
history and environmental education, as well
as a Pre K-12 global values curriculum.
The
school offers an elective program in Thai,
French, Chinese and Japanese. Moreover, a
Japanese section has been developed at the
Sukhumvit campus from preschool and up.
ASB
believes in promoting in each student a global
awareness and appreciation for all areas of
the performing arts. Students at ASB are able
to choose among the various universal appeals
such as ballet, jazz, and ethnic dances; gymnastics
and the various forms of martial arts; vocal
and instrumental music of diverse world cultures.
There
will, more so, be a strong program in drama
across the curriculum as it is the philosophy
of ASB that continual involvement in drama
activities at all grade levels helps to promote
oral assertiveness and bulids self confidence
in the language acquisition process. Drama
performances will culuminate in both large
and small productions, performed for the school
community and the greater Bangkok community
at large.
We
all recognize that computers are becoming
ever more important in today's world, and
our computer department offers access to the
latest computers and software. From early
on, students get to learn the basics of computer
science in addition to developing practical
skills associated with computers. Higher computing
courses such as computer graphics and computer
programming at the high school level also
provide a deeper level of understanding.
The
American School of Bangkok’s Nursery
& Kindergarten learning program focuses
on:
1)
The increased development in physical coordination,
fine and gross motor skills.
2) Increased ability to cope with personal,
social, and emotional needs.
3) Fostering each child’s natural curiosity
and his/her creative potential.
4) Motivating each child to have more independence
and self-direction.
5) Increasing the awareness and appreciation
for other people, places, experiences, and
ideas.
6) Developing higher skills in reading, writing,
listening, thinking and speaking English.
Our
teachers provide an array of learning experiences
to the young children by encouraging them
to explore, discover and flourish. ASB young
learners enjoy spacious and well-equipped
classroom ambience, and thrive in physical,
academic, social, and emotional development.
The
American School of Bangkok’s Elementary
and Middle School students enjoy well-equipped,
comfortable classrooms offering a variety
of high-tech and educational facilities. In
addition to the required academic subjects,
students may elect and participate in numerous

At

outside our school gates, therefore we encourage
