ASB TSUNAMI FACT-FINDING TRIP

On March 24th - 26th 2005, a group of ASB faculty, students and staff visited the south of Thailand (Phuket & Phang Nga) to investigate the aftermath of the Tsunami disaster and observe projects whereby the school could possibly lend a helping hand.

The participants of the trip included Mrs. Lakhana Tavedikul (the Director of the American School of Bangkok), three ASB students (Chisa Hasegawa, Kitiya Nakaprasertkul, Arada Taechakasari), two faculty members (Mr. Martin Grand, Mr. Brian Olsen), ASB Staff (Mrs. Puangthip Phanmanee), and two community volunteer officers (Mr. Wiroj Kedhuaprayoon, Mr. Naruechit Wangcharoenwong).

The group visited different villages and schools in the affected area, distributed commodities (such as food, snacks, toys and color painting supplies) to the children, and offered support to the victims.

The trip provided ample facts to the school community to decide on the distribution of the funds raised from various school activities for the victims of the Tsunami.
