It
is the time of the year to bring fun and entertainment
to parents, students, teachers, staff and even
the whole of the Sukhumvit community. The American
School of Bangkok is proud to announce the school's
greatest endeavor of the year- the "Sukhumvit
Fair 2005".
Objective:
The
American School of Bangkok (ASB) organizes the
“Sukhumvit Fair” each year in order
to celebrate the cultural diversity and international
cohesiveness of our community.
The Fair:
From the moment you enter our campus you will
become part of a magical evening! Open to the
public, the fair is one of the first of its
kind on Sukhumvit road. As an international
event, it features spectacular cultural shows,
games, shopping booths, live music, themed-costume
contests, prizes and of course, an international
cuisine. Keep your eyes open for additional
excitement such as magic shows, face painting,
a stilt walker, and a parade of cartoon characters
for the young ones.
Each
year boasts a different theme, but this year’s
Let’s Salsa! should prove to be one of
the most exhilarating yet - with a Latin Dance
Extravaganza, spectacular costumes and luscious,
“South ‘o the Border” cuisine.
Come join us in the land of Sombreros, Matadors,
Senoritas, enchiladas and yes, Salsa!
Brief History:
The
American School of Bangkok held its first Fun
Fair in 1995. Following success and steady growth,
the event was renamed the “Sukhumvit Fair”
to suit our aim of bringing unity to our richly
diverse community. Last year’s fair -
the "Sukhumvit Fair 2004" accommodated
over 5,000 visitors. The net proceeds generated
from the event were given to UNICEF for their
charitable programs in Thailand.
This year, due to early publicity and an irresistible
theme, we expect up to 6,500 visitors. Our publicity
reaches out to all foreign and l ocal
newspapers, radio channels, magazines and television
programs targeting mainly the entertainment,
women and education sectors.
Proceeds:
This
year’s net proceeds will be forwarded
to the child victims of the tsunami.
