SONGKRAN CELEBRATIONS - Recap

The American School of Bangkok celebrated the annual Thai New Year, the so-called Songkran Festival on Thursday 4th April 2002 at the Bangna Campus and on Friday 5th April 2002 at the Sukhumvit Campus.

Some teachers and students came in their beautiful Thai traditional costumes.

The Bangna campus had a traditional and religious Buddha Bathing Rite ceremony followed by a water ritual ceremony where students poured water on their teachers' hands. The teachers, in return, gave a little blessing to them.

The Sukhumvit Campus also had similar celebrations in the morning, and towards the end of the day, students and teachers gathered on the playground for a water play. It was a cool and wet occasion, yet a beautiful and culture-filled event in the fond memories of the ASB community.
